Today In Brewer History: A Long Wait For A Win

Stay connected for news and updates

On this day in 2008 the Brewers won a wild, back-and-forth game against the Nationals at Miller Park.

The Nationals drew first blood in the game, scoring a run against Manny Parra in the sixth on Lastings Milledge's single, but the Brewers responded with a run in the bottom half. The Nats then scored three more in the eighth (back to back home runs off Eric Gagne), but the Brewers again responded with three in the bottom half on Mike Rivera's bases loaded double.

From there, things were quiet for a while. Salomon Torres, Carlos Villanueva and Guillermo Mota had combined to hold the Nationals scoreless for five innings out of the bullpen to give Milwaukee a chance to win, and Gabe Kapler led off the 13th with a walkoff home run to give the Crew a 5-4 victory.
