Brewers Return Home, Resume Winning With 5-2 Victory Over Cubs
W: Randy Wolf (11-8)
L: Rodrigo Lopez (4-5)
S: John Axford (38)
HR: George Kottaras (3), Starlin Castro (8)
MVP: Ryan Braun (+.251)
LVP: Yuniesky Betancourt (-.126)
Home, sweet home.
The Brewers fell behind immediately in tonight's game as Starlin Castro led off the game with a home run, and dropped another run in the third on a Jeff Baker double. Having given the Cubs a suitable cushion, though, they turned it on in the fourth and scored five unanswered runs en route to a homestand-opening victory.
Randy Wolf was pretty good tonight, allowing just three other hits after the leadoff homer. All told he allowed two runs (one earned) over 6.2 innings, walking two and striking out three. Takashi Saito , Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford took it from there.
Ryan Braun came to the plate four times tonight and reached in all four opportunities, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks. Three runs scored in the fifth when he doubled off the top of the wall to plate Corey Hart and Nyjer Morgan, then took home on a throwing error.
The Cardinals beat the Pirates tonight, so the Brewer division lead remains at 9.5 games. Their magic number improves to 21, though, and the Cubs' elimination number is down to nine.

That's what his wikipedia page says. Wikiality and truthiness.
Under the “Kansas City Royals” section, is this line.
In 2011, he has proven to be a clutch power hitter despite his low OBP and free swinging nature. He is known as a second-half player and the Brewers have called off trade talks for a possible Shortstop acquisition because of his recent surge.

THE GREEN MACHINE COMETH?!
"We’re here to win, man. All that fighting stuff, that’s for the birds." - Prince Fielder
@BrewerfanToby According to Brewerfan member Stevo, Taylor Green has been called up. #Brewers

Dillard or FDLC maybe?
They may just be calling him up so he’s on the roster before September 1 and is thus playoff eligible.

Right. I forgot de la cruz was on the team
I was disappointed with the lack of hookers but the pancakes were delightful
This also ends any speculation that Green may have been the PTBNL in the Met's deal

Good point.

@Haudricourt Tom
#Brewers announce after game tonight they are optioning RHP Tim Dillard to AAA Nashville and calling up 3B Taylor Green from that club.

Clicked reply too fast
It’s obvious that RR isn’t going to use Dillard unless he has to. Might as well keep the guy who RR would actually use once in a while.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
Optioning who to Nashville?

Was capuano's line mentioned in the game thread
Complete game 2 hit shutout with 13 strikeouts if not. Good to see him have an outstanding outing.

I agree.
I felt really bad for him that he got cuffed around by the Brewers so bad last week. I was hoping for one of those 2-1 games. Still one of my favorite pitchers we’ve had. Never any excuses, worked every drop of his talent to it’s fullest. Two TJ’s is pretty awful luck to have, but he hasn’t given up. He may not be a Brewer anymore but I’ll never not be rooting for that guy.
Yuni made a nice play today
Beta focusing on defense a lot lately
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
Did anyone claim the scalp of that Cubs fan?
