I didn't get a chance to see this game as I worked through it, but it looks like I missed a sterling outing from Yovani Gallardo, who allowed just one unearned run in seven innings while striking out ten Cubs players. Gallardo gave up just six hits and two walks while throwing 104 pitches.
LaTroy Hawkins, on the other hand, blew up a little bit today. He only managed to record one out, and gave up three earned runs on four hits. K-Rod and Axford came in to shut down the Cubs offense, though.
Corey Hart had himself a nice day, going 3-3 with a double, a triple, and a home run while driving in two runs and scoring two runs. He also reached first base via walk, so in my book that counts as a cycle. Unfortunately, my book does not coincide with the official MLB record book, so Hart will have to wait until another day to officially record a cycle.
Casey McGehee also had a nice day, going 2-4 and driving in a couple runs with a homer.
St. Louis was shut out by the Pirates, so the Brewers NL Central lead just keeps growing and growing. This is also something like the eight bajillionth straight series the Brewers have not lost. Hooray winning!
The Brewers and Cubs play again tomorrow at 1:10.

As big of a lead as we have over St. Louis...
The Cubs have a bigger lead over the Astros. #Embarrassing

where did you find this? I want to print it out and hang it at work

Also worth noting,
The Brewers have played more games than anyone else. Some teams have to play 5 more games in in just 32 days.
I love MP
It is what it is.
For example,
the Braves have 17 games in 16 days. They have a road trip of @Philadelphia for 3 games, @NY for a doubleheader makeup, and @St. Louis for 3 games.
The Phillies will have 33 games in 31 days without a single day off. Ouch. That will be one tired team by the end of th at.

With a schedule like that
It might take a toll on the pitching staff especially the bullpens if they have two or three bad starts in a row.
It could give the Brewers an edge against the Braves if they have to keep using the same few bullpen arms (Venters,Kimbrel and O’Flaherty especially)
