The Phillies scored a run on a Hunter Pence RBI single to beat the Braves 4-3 in 13 innings, so the NL playoff field is set: The Cardinals have won the NL Wild Card and will travel to Philadelphia to open the playoffs on Saturday, while the Diamondbacks will come to Milwaukee.
Times for Saturday's games will likely be announced later tonight or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, as I write this the Yankees, Rays, Red Sox and Orioles are all playing with playoff spots on the line. This day is a perfect example of why MLB needs to leave the playoff system alone and scrap plans for a fifth playoff team.
