Brass balls on this one.
Greinke must be pretty compelling when he’s given the chance to make his case.
We pull our pants up and do our jobs here.
WoW raid the night before Game 3, that's why.

This is even funnier because I used to raid in WoW. Those people would honestly probably ask you to not pitch in the MLB playoffs.

Scenario I'm afraid of:
Kennedy shuts down the Brewers in Game 1. Brewers enter Game 2, down a game, and Zack isn’t sharp because he’s pitching on short rest for the 2nd time in a row.
Really, I don’t think it’ll be an issue because of his low pitch count on Wednesday, but I find it interesting that they’d rather pitch Greinke twice in a row on short rest than pitch Marcum at home.
I keep coming to the conclusion that this is a choice...
… that a smarter manager could have found a way to avoid.

Does anyone think part of this is the Home vs Away splits for Greinke and Marcum
It could just be an aberration, but who knows? Maybe Marcum just doesn’t feel particularly comfortable pitching in Miller Park and Greinke feeds off the home crowd energy.
Given the lackluster ticket sales in Arizona, 1/4 of the fans in the stands might be Brewers fans, anyway.

I'll be a proud member of that 1/4
Applying pop culture to Brewers discussions since 2009, earning the nickname of "Our Little Abed".
that's the exact reason I was hoping Greinke would pitch Game 2
and Marcum for Game 3…I was filled with worry that it would be the opposite.
I’m gonna be a nervous wreck all October.

As Roenicke said today, Greinke's home road splits are misleading
If you look at his season ERA splits, they are clearly better at home and lead to a conclusion that he’s much less effective on the road. However, I prefer to look at his season as a tale of two halves instead – pre and post All-Star break. His home/road splits after July 12th look like this:
Home ERA (after July 12) – 2.35
Road ERA (after July 12) – 2.93
He’s performed a bit better at home, but his only real bad start since July 12 was the 7 ER he gave up in Pittsburgh. I guess what I’m trying to say is we can be pretty confident that he’s one of our best, if not THE best option at home or on the road – despite what the surface stats say.
If anything, our ability to trust him on three days is really allowing us to put Marcum in the best position for him, since his home/road splits have held true the whole season.

Magic of advanced predictive stats
2011 Home xFIP: 2.26 (+0.09)
2011 Road xFIP: 2.95 (-0.02)
