Why is Jungmann, who has never played an inning of pro ball, getting more votes than Thornburg?
They’re both similar aged, have similar #2 ceilings, and Thornburg has proven he can do it at a level Jungmann hasn’t played at yet,
I guess Jungmann has a better frame, but I don’t think that should get him more votes than someone with a track record of minor league success.
Hype machine?
Probably because he’s a recent high draft pick and is fresh in our thoughts, comparatively. I see them as virtually identical, but leaned Thornburg for the reasons that you mentioned.
Hype is the only reason I'm voting for Thornburg.
When it comes to minor league rankings, I have no idea what’s going on, so I just vote for the guy who I think is the best.

Plus the fact that as hyped as he is, Jungmann has not played one inning of pro ball yet.
We’ve seen how fast those can come crashing down.

Thornburg doenst have a 3rd pitch
Or at least one that projects to get big league hitters out on a consistent basis.
The scouting consensus on Thornburg is that he will probably wind up as a closer because of his stuff, where Jungmann has middle of the rotation potential.
- starter is worth more than a closer.
Why is Jungmann not #1 is a better question.
If Plush had to pick Wearwolf or Vampire, I'm a Wearwolf!
Not pitching a professional inning yet is probably a good reason to temper enthusiasm
If he has a great first year he will be #1 on next year’s list.
But his velocity drop, unusual mechanics, and innings load at Texas are good reasons he isnt considered an elite prospect who might easily be a teams #1 coming into the season following his drafting.
That's not what my scouts are telling me.
They’re saying “buy, buy, buy” and “this kid’s gold, SRB. GOLD!”
If Plush had to pick Wearwolf or Vampire, I'm a Wearwolf!
I was just about to post the same thing (about not pitching a professional inning)
the difference between college hitters and even guys at A ball is huge. I want to see what he does against better hitters before I start thinking of Jungmann as a top prospect. Right now he’s a promising draft choice, and I’m excited to see how he shakes out in the pros
Even in a farm system this weak, I wouldn’t put him higher than a #3 or 4 prospect.
Though, I’m the kind of guy who invests in risk-avoidant companies, so ymmv.
And the difference between A ball and MLB is ten times bigger.
All of these players are huge questions marks. That’s why they’re prospects…

That's why I voted for Thornburg.
Jungmann probably has a higher ceiling, but there’s nothing to go on. I know Thornburg has had success against minor league hitters.
My goodness.

Actually, I’m willing to bet a lot of talent evaluators would consider it the opposite. Thornbug isn’t less risky just because he has some experience in the lower minors, and part of the reason Jungmann is good is because he’s considered relatively safe.
If Plush had to pick Wearwolf or Vampire, I'm a Wearwolf!
Yeah, this
Almost every offseason prospect ranking out there has the previous year’s first round draft picks ranked pretty high. If they have ANY pro experience, even the wee bit Jed Bradley did, they get pushed down.
I’m reserving my judgment on Bradley until he pitches some in 2012. He had a crappy AFL experience but he was coming right off an injury.
I'm very excited about Jungmann, but I can't justify putting him at #2 before playing any professional ball.
Likewise.
Now that's great tasting chicken!

What, no Cameron Garfield?
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

I wonder how hard it'd be to create an "auto-ban" program triggered by certain words.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
If you get that figured out
Can you tweak out to auto-mock any fantasy team mentions?
