Shaun Marcum asks for $8.7 million via arbitration, Brewers offer $6.75
MLB Trade Rumors predicted he'd get $6.8 million, so these numbers are pretty high.

still trying to forgive Marcum for the 2011 postseason!
I am too drunk to taste this chicken.

Much Like I will never be over Macho Grande
I will never forgive Marcum for his part in the 2011 postseason

Absolutely
the blame for that, as well as Mark Kotsay starting in CF is the manager’s.

Ugh
I had forgotten about Kotsay in CF. Oy. I didn’t need to remember that.
My goodness.

Having fun today, Kyle?

This has been a fun day.
But with all the questions being answered today, I don’t know what we’re going to talk about for most of the next month.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Pirates/Ninjas?

My guess is that there will be some talk about Pirates in the next month.

Marcum's going to lose
That formula MLBTR uses seems pretty accurate based on stats, and given his postseason meltdown he doesn’t exactly have any intangible reason to get more.
Glad he’s back either way though!

I estimated $6M, so I was pretty low on it.
I’ve updated the sheet and the post.
I added in Norichika Aoki as the final OF spot, and with just one bench IF spot available, payroll stands at $95.6275M (sheet and post say $94.8775, but it will be at least $750k higher with Marcum’s minimum being $6.75, but I will change it when the final number is in). Marcum will likely fall somewhere just north of the midpoint, so possibly around $7.4M, and I’d guess Aoki will get around $1M with incentives. Adding those to the payroll, we get to about $97.2775 (my original estimate was $97.19).

Shoot
subtract $300k from those numbers, I forgot to change Parra’s salary. All fixed now.

If he gets his asking price, the guy that showed up the final month of last year better not show up at all.
