SB Nation's Official Statement On SOPA
This is and will remain a politics-free space, but SOPA legislation represents a direct and unwarranted threat to BCB and SB Nation. Follow the link above to read the company's official statement on the legislation.

Thanks for putting this up.
I fully support the Vox/SBN stance.

Same.
I don’t even know if this is really “politics.” It’s not right-vs-left, it’s small-number-of-old-media-rightsholders-and-their-lobbyists vs literally everyone else.

I don't want to face the day where BCB is unavailable because some random person posts something that he/she should have.

Can you imagine?
No one would be able to post videos, pics… and probably PhotoShops.
The site would end up being text-based to prevent any potential lawsuits.

Well, text based, with a Rally Lobster here and there.
After all, the Rally Lobster is an original BCB creation…right?

Links are actually the biggest concern, I think.
We do the best we can to avoid linking to pirated streams now, but we’d have to switch to draconian measures if this passes.
Now that's great tasting chicken!

would you still be able to link to a movie scene on Youtube?
say something like this when the Crew was getting blown out http://youtu.be/GBsSttJsZOc

YouTube probably wouldn't exist anymore.
So we wouldn’t have to worry about that…

I will say thing can you name one time other than the Civil Rights Act where Congress made anything better
There has to be a better way to stop pirating than this idea.
"It's a joke. It's all a joke.
How about every amendment to the constitution outside of the 18th?
BCB: Pointless Exercises in Devils Advocacy
just by the process an amendment has more to do than just Congress
and wouldn’t you say a lot of those amendment came from the founding fathers not Congress(bill of rights was Amend 1 -10 right.)
I keep thinking to how Congress was going to fix Cable TV how did that work out ;)
"It's a joke. It's all a joke.
There are 27 amendments.
So,we’ll give you through the 12th as potentially written by the Founding Fathers (the 13th was proposed in 1865 and abolished slavery).
But, even insomuch as they were framed by Thomas Jefferson, the Bill of Rights still had to pass muster of Congress and each legislative body of the 13 states. So, yes, Congress has written every Amendment to the Constitution.
To cherry pick that one issue—“fixing” cable—against everything every Congress has or has not done is pretty silly. How about federal child labor laws? OSHA? Creating a standing military to defend against foreign invasion? Anti-trust laws?
fine you sit back and let Congress fix this
tell me how it works out. I honestly do not care enough to get in an argument about it you are right I am wrong
happy now :)

Fuck. SOPA.
FanGraphs should consider a venue for a Gallery Night... they could even serve a cake with a Win Expectancy Chart of the 7/7/11 Brewers' game etched in the frosting, and 7-up. Oh, yeah - and t-shirts that say "SABR-Friday." I'm totally there.

Apparently the guy who authored SOPA was using an image on his website in violation of his own law.

Then there's Disney who supports SOPA, and is the parent company of ESPN and Grantland
and here is a list of 98 SOPA violations by Grantland since its inception.

That's just 98 SOPA violations by Simmons at Grantland
There’s hundreds more by its other writers.
