If you've been around the site long, you know that I'm personally not a fan of fantasy baseball. In fact, I spend a fair amount of time during the season making fun of many of you for the volume of time/energy/emotion you devote to your fake teams.

On a related note, I will be doing my fantasy rankings for MLB Soup using FantasyPros.com's software.
This is the same software that Yahoo! writers are using, and my rankings will be available for comparison alongside theirs on FantasyPro’s website. Is it wrong that I have Pujols ranked as the 4th best 1st baseman?
Depends.
Does your scoring system dock points for being a self-righteous a-hole?

Their rankings can be found here:
Yeah, fantasy baseball is pathetic. I mean...
… oh, hold on. Someone just sent me a trade offer in my dynasty fantasy football league… I’ll finish my thought later…

Wait, CBS was the really shitty one from two years ago.
Yahoo is mediocre. I still like ESPN the best.
Yeah, CBS was the awful one.
I’m indifferent between Yahoo and ESPN. I do kind of prefer Yahoo’s naming convention of one 30 character field as opposed to two 15 character fields on ESPN.

And when does this league happen?!

I'm sick of it.
I haven’t used it for baseball, but I got overridden in trying to banish it from my FF league. Then everybody hated it during the season. I used to use CBS Sportsline and really enjoyed, but that was a long time ago and don’t really know it anymore.
Yahoo is superior
And I’m not just saying that because it gives me a fake shiny trophy for each of the leagues I’ve won.

I love that if Kyle has to do a sponsored post
It’s almost always with a hint (or, in this case, more than a hint) of snark.
Stick it to the man!
It's like Uecker's read of the add for the Wisconsin Dental Association back when they sponsored Brewer games....
Instead of reading “The sign of a dentist who cares” he read it “The sign of a dentist……. who cares?”

"back when they sponsored Brewer games..."
Ha! Maybe that’s why they stopped.

There's no way I could do a straight-up promotion for fantasy baseball with any level of credibility.
I’ve spent way too much time making fun of it in the past. I do recognize that many of you care about it more than I do, though.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
CBS Sports is the best site but it costs a buttload of money.
ESPN is sufficient.

You can play on CBS Sports for free
I don’t know if you can set up your own league for free, though.

irreverent approaches to fantasy baseball
2 of my friends and I, back during the ’08 season, decided to start a private league with whimsical player choice.
My one friend tried to get an all-redhead team (and had to compromise with blonds.)
My team was entirely guys under 6’ (had to fudge on some of the pitchers, but most of those listed 6’0" pitchers aren’t.)
The third person had got called into work on the draft night so everything was autopicked.
Of course the person who autopicked and didn’t make a roster change or lineup change ALL SEASON won the league.
Sounds like my fantasy basketball team last year when I drafted only white guys.
Of course, there aren’t enough white guys in the NBA to make up a whole team, so I resorted to drafting guys that were half white, but it was good enough for 2nd place.
