Before we get started with today's game coverage, I wanted to take a moment to share some statistical tidbits from last night's contest.

  • Last night's game took 5:04 to play. It's the Brewers' longest game by time since the Diamondbacks beat the Crew 11-9 in 15 innings on April 22, 2004.
  • The Brewers used 22 players last night, with only Yovani Gallardo, Shaun Marcum and Marco Estrada getting the night off. It's only the 12th time in franchise history they've used that many players in a game, and the fifth non-September game.
  • As Noah mentioned in Stat Of The Night, last night's 14 walks were the third highest total in franchise history.
  • It's the 38th time in franchise history the Brewers have been hit by three pitches in a game, and the second time it's happened in 2012. The other time was also against the Cubs, on April 10. They're 26-12 all time in those games.
  • With eleven hits, 14 walks and three HBP, the Brewers were on base 28 times last night. It's only the 26th time in franchise history they've done that, and only the third time it's led to less than ten runs.
  • Ryan Braun drew four of those walks, setting a new career high. He was on base five times (he was also hit by a pitch) without a hit. Rickie Weeks (0-for-4, BB, 2 HBP) and George Kottaras (0-for-1, 3 BB) were also on base three times each without hits.
  • Aramis Ramirez (2-for-5, double, two walks) and Jonathan Lucroy (1-for-2, double, walk) both had hits last night to extend their hitting streaks to eight games, and remain tied for the longest streak by a Brewer this season.
  • Prior to last night's game, Ramirez had exactly one hit in seven straight games. That was tied for the eighth longest such streak in franchise history.
  • Edwin Maysonet's hit last night was his first since September 26, 2009. He was also a pinch-hitter in that game.
  • Vinnie Chulk was the winning pitcher for the first time since August 19, 2007.
