Win Expectancy Graph and Star of the Game Voting

If this isn't the low point of this season, then 2012 is going to be a shocking disappointment.

Let's start with this, which hopefully won't turn out to be the lasting memory of this day: Ryan Braun left the game after flying out in the sixth and limping back to the dugout. The trainers weren't talking to him in the dugout but he didn't retake the field to play defense either. Hopefully it was just a precautionary move.

I think we were all strongly looking forward to watching the Brewers try to hit Jeff Suppan tonight, but it looks like "try" was the key word there. Suppan pitched five shutout innings in his first major league start since October of 2010, and the Brewers mustered just four hits against him.

Meanwhile, the one bad inning sunk Yovani Gallardo tonight. The first three San Diego runs scored in the third as the Padres put together three hits and three walks against Gallardo. Mark Kotsay drove in the first run with a double, giving him the game-winning RBI on back-to-back days. Gallardo recovered nicely but still picked up the loss on a day where he pitched six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out four.

Vinnie Chulk made his Brewer debut in the eighth inning, appearing in a major league game for the first time since 2009. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in the outing.

Braun and the Brewers will get a day off tomorrow before facing the Giants in San Francisco at 9:15 Friday night. They're expected to make a roster move between now and then to replace Mat Gamel on the roster.
