And the downhill slide continues.
The Brewers carried a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth today, with runs plated on RBI singles for Cody Ransom, Corey Hart and Taylor Green. The wheels came off in that inning, however, as Randy Wolf and Jose Veras combined to allow three runs on four hits and an error to give Arizona a 4-3 lead.
Despite the fact that it was only a one-run deficit, the Brewers never really threatened to come back after that. They were retired in order in the seventh and eighth before J.J. Putz worked around a Cody Ransom walk to slam the door in the ninth.
Ransom was on base three times today, hitting a single and drawing two walks. Taylor Green went 2-for-4 and his double was the Brewers' only extra base hit.
The Brewers still have won just one road series this season, and haven't won a series of any kind in their last five opportunities. They'll open a four game set in Los Angeles at 7:10 tomorrow night.
