I didn't get a chance to see this game, but it appears I missed a good one.
The Brewers opened tonight's contest with ten unanswered runs and the exclamation point was a six-run fourth to chase Wade Miley from the game. Miley came into the game with a 2.19 ERA and had allowed just four runs over his previous four starts, but the Brewers hung an eight spot on him tonight.
Five of the six runs in the fourth inning scored on two home runs, as Ryan Braun drove in two with his second of the game and Cody Ransom hit a three-run shot. The Brewers had 13 hits in the game and Carlos Gomez, Braun, Corey Hart, Ransom and Martin Maldonado each had two of them.
Meanwhile, Michael Fiers was excellent again. He pitched six shutout innings and allowed just two hits, walking three and striking out ten. He's now gone 20.1 innings without allowing a run. Tonight's game lowered his ERA to 2.29.
The Brewers will send Yovani Gallardo to face Josh Collmenter with the series on the line tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10.
