In hindsight, starting the Brewers' most homer-friendly pitcher in one of baseball's most homer-friendly stadiums probably wasn't a recipe for success.
Estrada pitched a quality start tonight but his three runs allowed over seven innings all scored on solo home runs. He's now allowed 15 home runs this season to lead all Brewers, despite having pitched just 63.2 innings. Yovani Gallardo has allowed 14 over 115.1.
Meanwhile, the Brewer bats needed eight innings to get on the board against Homer Bailey. They finally broke the seal in the eighth when Martin Maldonado scored on Norichika Aoki's double to left. The Brewers managed just six hits in the game and none of them belonged to Corey Hart, whose hitting streak was snapped at 12 games.
Ryan Braun had hits in each of his first two at bats tonight, and the second was the 1000th of his career. We'll have more on that in Stat of the Night later, so make sure you stick around or check back.
This series will continue tomorrow at 6:10 when Yovani Gallardo takes on Bronson Arroyo.
