Today In Brewer History: Yount's Longest Streak Snapped

Stay connected for news and updates

On this day in 1989 the Rangers beat the Brewers 9-3 at Arlington Stadium in Texas. The Brewers managed just four hits in the game and none of them came from Robin Yount, who went 0-for-3 with a HBP to snap a 19 game hitting streak.

Yount is the Brewer career leader with 3142 hits, but this was the only time in his career he had a hitting streak go longer than 18 games. He posted some pretty impressive numbers during the run, hitting .446/.506/.757 with 15 extra base hits and 18 RBI over the 19 games. He struck out just four times over 74 at bats in those games.

With help from Brewerfan.net and the B-Ref Play Index, happy birthday to:

Today is also the 11th anniversary of the 2001 deal that brought Ruben Quevedo to the Brewers in exchange for David Weathers. Rubie Q covered that event in this space last year.
