Hey guys/girls, I'm new here and would like to start posting. I follow the Brewers farm system VERY closely and I've discovered a few young MLB ready prospects at Nashville (that's The Crew's AAA minor league affiliate) that you probably haven't heard about.
Claudio Vargas - I look at Rogers and Peralta, and I wonder why all the hype on these guys? This young prospect Vargas is blowing them out of the water! 3.81 ERA, only 2.5 BB/9 and a name that sounds like he could have been a conquistador. Thornburg, Burgos? Unproven at AAA. Heck, even Fiers had a 4.42 ERA and turned that into a sub 3 MLB ERA! So I expect Vargas to post less than a 2.50 ERA. I suppose they haven't called him up because they didn't want to burn one of his options early. Exciting young player, who deserves a shot at the majors!
Andy Gonzalez - It's no secret Milwaukee has had SS problems all year, so I look at this guys .772 OPS this season and I'm wondering why the hell wasn't he called up? I know, I know, he needs more Milb experience, but COME ON! What do they have to lose? SS of the future!
Brooks Conrad - How has this guy flown under the radar for so long!!!?! His numbers could rival Barry Bonds if he had been with this team from the start of the season!! I'm seriously questioning Melvin's ability to realistically project his minor league talent. Why draft these guys if you don't want to play them when they're obviously too good for their opponents in the minors? It's common sense!
