Prince Fielder had an unprecedented season in 2007, hitting 50 home runs in his age 23 season. By comparison, his 34-homer season in 2008 was something of a letdown.
The Brewers beat the Reds 4-3 on this day that season, and Fielder went 1-for-4 with an eighth inning single. It was his 24th consecutive game without a homer, the longest streak of his career. Fielder had just one extra base hit, a double, during the streak and hit .176/.289/.189 during that span.
Fielder bounced back with a homer the next day, and hit six over the Brewers' final 16 regular season games.
With help from the B-Ref Play Index, happy birthday today to Kameron Loe. He turns 31.
Today is also the 38th anniversary of Sixto Lezcano's tenth inning walkoff single in his Brewer debut, the best debut in Brewer franchise history by WPA. We covered that event in this space last year.
