Win Expectancy Graph

It's still a long shot, of course, but the Brewers are not dead yet.

Hopefully it's not too little too late, but it looks like Shaun Marcum might be back at full strength. He pitched his second straight quality start tonight, allowing one earned run on just four hits over six innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. Marcum was the winning pitcher tonight for the first time since June. The Brewers have won four of his last five starts despite the fact that he's posted a 5.06 ERA over that span.

Meanwhile, the Brewers put up seven runs on Bronson Arroyo and the Reds tonight, led by three extra base hits for Norichika Aoki. His solo home run tied the game at one in the third inning, and his second double was his 36th to set a new Brewer rookie record. The Brewers had nine extra base hits as a team.

The Brewers are now four games back of the Cardinals with seven to play, pending the outcome of St. Louis' game in Houston tonight. They'll get another chance to gain half a game tomorrow when they wrap up this series with the Reds at 11:30. Wily Peralta is scheduled to face Mat Latos.
