Poll Shows Brewer Fans More Optimistic On Gomez, Playoff Chances

PROGRAMMING NOTE: With the quick turnaround between last night's game and today's 11:30 Central start, the Frosty Mug is off today. It will return tomorrow. - KL

This week's poll was open from Tuesday at noon through Wednesday, and received 174 responses. Here are some notable results:

  • 83% of voters said Carlos Gomez's 2012 performance has made them more optimistic for his future.
  • 30% of voters now think this Brewer team can make the playoffs, up from 5% when we last asked this question on July 30.
  • 47% of readers share Doug Melvin's concerns with the September callup rules, while 41% do not.

Follow the jump for the full results.

The Brewers have called up six players (Wily Peralta, Tyler Thornburg, Brandon Kintzler, Josh Stinson, Logan Schafer and Eric Farris) since September 1 and removed one player from the roster (Cody Ransom), so their active roster now sits at 30. How do you feel about this?

Over the weekend Adam McCalvy wrote the following about Doug Melvin: "Why does it make sense, Melvin has argued for years, to play five months of games under one set of rules, then change them when the games count most in September? Beyond that, callups can disrupt clubhouse chemistry and create the potential for parades of relievers extending long games." Do you share this concern?
