Box Score

The Brewers haven't won a game since I last recapped on Monday, but altered their losing fortunes in a victory over the Indians this afternoon.

It wasn't exactly an encouraging start for Chris Narveson. His stuff was very hittable, and both he and opposing starter Brett Myers allowed seven hits over their respective four innings. Narveson managed to limit his damage to two runs, in part thanks to two key strikeouts to end the first and second innings.

Alfredo Figaro had another great outing, retiring all six men he faced. His spring ERA now stands at 1.86. Adding scoreless frames were Tom Gorzelanny and Josh Stinson. Michael Olmstead ran into some trouble in the ninth, allowing a home run and two walks, but managed to close out the win.

Offensively, it was the Jean Segura and Blake Lalli show. Each chipped in an RBI in the second and fourth innings. Logan Schafer, hitting over .300 this spring, stayed hot with a walk in the second, and Jean Segura tripled him home for the team's first run. In a sure sign of things to come, Ron Roenicke ordered an unexpected, albeit successful, sacrifice bunt, which Lalli executed perfectly. Segura added another RBI groundout in the fourth, and Lalli also chimed in with an RBI single in that inning.

The Brewers had plenty of other opportunities to score. Norichika Aoki, Carlos Gomez, Rickie Weeks, Aramis Ramirez, Bobby Crosby, and Dayton Buller all had hits. Alex Gonzalez had two.

The game featured a couple of baserunning errors, both in the third. Aoki was thrown out trying to take third on his double, and Gomez was picked off at first later in the inning.

Brewers play tomorrow against the Reds at 3:05 p.m.
