USA TODAY Sports

Michael Olmsted posted a 5.22 ERA over 11 appearances in spring, with 14 strikeouts and 5 walks.

The Brewers made another roster move this morning, optioning Michael Olmsted to Triple-A Nashville (h/t Todd Rosiak).

Olmsted had been having a very good spring so far, despite his high ERA. He had a rough day against the Cubs on Friday, giving up three runs on four hits, two of which were home runs. Before that game, he had posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. Overall, he had a 5.22 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in his 11 appearances. His strikeout ratio has been impressive, striking out 14 in 10 2/3 innings (good for a 12.2 K/9), with 5 walks to go along with that.

Olmsted was signed by the Brewers as a minor-league free agent in the offseason. He was a long shot to make the bullpen, considering that he hadn't pitched above Double-A so far. However, if he continues to impress in Nashville, he could be called up to Milwaukee sometime in 2013.
