Khris Davis' Third Home Run Brings Brewers Back To .500

He's a long shot to make the roster, but Khris Davis isn't going to make it easy to send him down.

W: Taylor Jungmann (1-1)
L: Bo Schultz (0-1)
S: Michael Olmsted (2)

HR: Alex Gonzalez (1), Khris Davis (3), Eric Chavez (1)

Box Score

With Ryan Braun away at the World Baseball Classic Khris Davis is getting lots of playing time, and no one can say he's not taking advantage of the opportunity. He hit his third home run in as many days today, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth that gave the Brewers a come-from-behind victory.

Davis' home run took several Brewers off the hook after an ugly top of the eighth. The game was 2-2 in that inning with two outs when Taylor Jungmann walked a batter and allowed a single. A run scored when catcher Adam Weisenburger, who is probably sixth or seventh on the organizational depth chart at the position, threw to second base on a stolen base attempt despite the fact that no one was covering. That gave the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead.

Mark Rogers' outing today probably reflects a solid step forward, as he worked around some control issues to pitch three innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits. He also walked three batters today and is now responsible for six in 4.2 official innings this spring, plus four more in two innings against Italy in a B game.

The most surprising performance of the day today probably came from Alfredo Figaro, who pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out a pair. He's now pitched six scoreless innings over four outings this spring.

Today's win improves the Brewers to 6-6 in Cactus League play. They'll get a chance to climb back above .500 for the first time since their 1-0 start when they host the Rangers tomorrow.
