The Brewers offense was ready to get the team a win today. Unfortunately, Hiram Burgos couldn't help them out.

The Brewers got on the board quick today thanks to a home run from Jean Segura in the first inning, and then added on a second run from a walk by Ryan Braun and a double from Aramis Ramirez. However, the Reds offense countered with five runs in the second inning, starting with a home run from Jay Bruce and followed by five straight batters reaching base, the last two recording an RBI each in the process. The Brewers finally got the next three batters out, but the first two also recorded an RBI in the process. After the second inning, the Reds had a 5-2 lead.

The Brewers started a rally in the third inning and got the score to 5-4 thanks to an RBI double from Braun and an RBI single from Ramirez. However, the Reds continued to add on runs in their half of the third, as the first six runners reached base, and the first out even brought in a run. When the inning was done, the Reds had scored seven more runs and now had a 12-4 lead. The Brewers managed to get it to 12-7 with two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth, but couldn't get any closer than that.

It just wasn't a good day for Hiram Burgos. He only lasted three innings and allowed twelve runs (ten earned), eleven hits, and three walks. He recorded two strikeouts, and both were in the first inning. He only allowed one home run, and it was a solo home run as well. After the game, Ron Roenicke admitted that he was upset that he had to leave Burgos in. With a short bullpen due to an injury to Gorzelanny, as well as John Axford and Alfredo Figaro unavailable due to work load, Burgos had to eat some innings tonight.

The Brewers will try to salvage one game in this series with the final game tomorrow afternoon. Wily Peralta will start for the Brewers, and they will face Bronson Arroyo for the 30th time. First pitch is at 12:10 pm.
