I've always held Melvin in a high regard and thought he was a very good GM. While some of this may in fact be over reaction, I started wondering why. Yes the C.C. trade along with the Greinke and Marcum trade where great trades. But then I started thinking who outside of Braun and fielder and hart had he drafted that turned out to be any good? Even the prospects we gave up in the trades I've mentioned haven't panned out. There isn't any pitchers drafted worth speaking about. Is it time to get a new talent evaluator? Let's face it in this market the only way we're ever going to sustain success is through the drafting a development of young players, particularly pitchers.
