Couldn't keep this to myself (it involves Braun)

Hello Cats and Kittens.

I know, I'm a few days late on this, and I'm sure there are myriad threads already in existence about Braun and his suspension, but I just couldn't keep this to myself. Over on Facebook, I got into it with a couple of Wisconsin natives (but inexplicable Yankees fans) about Braun. The gist of their argument is that Braun is less than human scum because he dragged Dino what's-his-face (the urine sample collector in 2011) through the mud IN ADDITION to doping and lying about it. I countered with Clemens doing the same to McNamee and had it dismissed as "Well, we don't know for sure Clemens doped" (!!!). I also brought up A-Rod, and also Andy Pettitte, but again had my arguments dismissed (they both admitted to doping, so it's perfectly OK). I finally posted the following on the FB thread:

"OKAY! WE GET IT!!! BRAUN'S A DOPER, A LIAR, AND A DOUCHEBAG! However, he is also signed through 2021, so what, precisely, do you want the Brewers to do about him? Cut him and pay the rest of his gigantic contract? Trade him and get a single-A player in return (not to mention paying him the aforementioned gigantic contract, or close to it to the new team)? Or how about having him come back in 2014, presumably clean, and hoping for at least some of the production he put up while juiced? Honestly, what the fuck are the Brewers as an organization, or the Brewers fans supposed to do? Bitching and complaining is not going to solve the pragmatic problem that now exists."

After 24 hours, I finally received this reply: "The Brewers should do the right thing and release him. If they were a classy organization that's what they would do. Money be damned. The Brewers have won nothing with this joker. What's to gain by keeping him? Yeah you're out a ton of money, but with him this season you were in last place. In hindsight they made a huge mistake by signing him to the contract extension, but not releasing him is a bigger mistake. Imo."

I didn't wish to continue arguing with the guy who has the dreaded "drunk guy in a sports bar" attitude, as I was hoping for an intelligent, well-thought-out reaction to what we all as Brewers fans are now facing. I wasn't getting it over on FB, so I'm hoping for it here.

Sorry if this has already been beaten to death on another thread that I didn't see.

your pal,
