Ron Roenicke made the decision to start Sean Halton at first base tonight and the decision paid off in the biggest way possible. Halton drove in 3 of the Brewers' five runs tonight, 1 in the 2nd on a single scoring Logan Schafer and 2 in the 4th on a two-run home run, his first since his first stint with the team in July.
Tyler Thornburg didn't take a no-hitter farther than the 2nd inning tonight but still gave an excellent pitching performance. He was followed up by Rob Wooten, not giving up runs, and a surprise appearance from a potentially overworked Brandon Kintzler. Jim Henderson may have obtained save but that was marred by a two-out solo home run by Matt Adams, this year's Ridiculously Good Quad-A-Type Corner Infielder. (The Brewers and Cubs have had many iterations of this guy. You know. That guy. I just saw Chris Colabello do his best at trying to be that guy this afternoon for the Twins, but he's not quite that guy. Yet.)
The Brewers head home to face the Reds tomorrow night at 7:10. Kyle Lohse will take the mound for the Crew against Cincinnati's Mat Latos
