2014 Baseball World Championship Belt

Most people consider the Boston Red Sox to be the defending World Champions of baseball, and will do so until one team wins four games in the World Series. However, the season is 162 games long, and that is too long to let the Sox stay on top. We deserve to know which team is the Champion of Baseball on each and every day. Thus, I introduce the Baseball World Championship Belt.

The Belt is earned by either: (1) winning the World Series; or (2) beating the current Belt holder. Thus, the Red Sox entered the season as Baseball World Champions. Spring Training, out of convenience, does not count.

So far, there have been three Champs this season:

March 31, the Red Sox started the season as champs, but lost 2-1 to the Baltimore Orioles, making the O's champs for one day, since the Sox took it back two days later with a 6-2 victory. The Sox held it for another game, taking the rubber match from the O's 4-3. The triumph was short lived, as Carlos Gomez pounded out 4 hits en route to a 6-2 Brewers victory over the Sox.

The Brew Crew currently hold the World Baseball Championship Belt. Think they'll get out of Boston with it?
