The Belt is headed to the Senior Circuit as the Brew Crew swept the Red Sox and leave town as the defending champs. Thanks to Yovanni Gallardo's stellar start and a healthy dose of offense, the Brewers have now held the Title for a season high three games. Notably, predictions that Brian McCann would get involved and prevent the Brewers from keeping the Belt failed to materialize. Carlos Gomez did run around the bases with it and tried screaming at the Boston infield, but he was running too fast and no one could hear him.
Next up are the reeling Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Rumor has Rubèn Amaro thinks his Phils can win it all this year. Perhaps this is what he meant. The Crew hopes to get out of Philly with the Belt and bring it back to Miller Park for their title hungry fans. My guess is Brian McCann will wait until the Brewers triumphant return to Milwaukee and block the runway, this undoing the Yankees best offseason move.
Here are this season's Baseball World Championship Belt winners, and the number of games they held it:
Milwaukee Brewers: 3 Games
Boston Red Sox: 2 Games
Baltimore Orioles: 1 Game
