Prospect Batting Projections, Scootified.

It's time to see just exactly how our oft unheralded prospects become superstars after giving them the Gennett treatment. Made famous by Scrappy McGritterson himself, Scooter Gennett. It's very simple, you look at a player's current minor league level and OPS, and multiply it by whatever the difference between Scooter's OPS at that level was, and what his current MLB career OPS is. Milwaukee Gennett's OPS (.832) is 12.4% higher than his Brevard OPS (.740) so we just beef up our Brevard players by that same 12.4% and determine how awesome they are going to be based off of that SCOOPS (Scooter inCrease Optimized OPS).

"It's science, deal with it." - Neil deGrasse Tyson

Orlando Arcia, Class A+ Brevard County - Arcia was very highly regarded coming into 2012, then he missed the entire season with a leg injury and didn't do a whole lot to inspire confidence in his bat upon his 2013 return (.647 OPS) even factoring in his age. But in 2014 so far he's shown outstanding plate discipline and a bit of gap power.

2014 OPS - .720

MLB SCOOPS projection - .809

Player Comp - Derek Jeter (With defensive range!)

Tyrone Taylor, Class A+ Brevard County - Taylor's posting even better numbers than he did a year ago despite being significantly younger than the majority of his competition and playing in a stadium so large that it makes the original polo grounds looks like Citizens Bank Park.

2014 OPS - .750

MLB SCOOPS projection - .843

Player Comp - Matt Kemp

Mitch Haniger, Class AA Huntsville - Haniger had a rough start to his season but picked it up a bit, unfortunately he landed on the DL shortly after back to back 2 HR performances. Good thing we already know how his career will turn out!

2014 OPS - .752

MLB SCOOPS projection - .876

Player Comp - Carlos Beltran

Clint Coulter, Class A Wisconsin - Coulter is having an outstanding season with Class A Wisconsin, many of us thought his production was going to tail off and that pitchers had him figured out but he's responded by starting a new laser show recently. Unfortunately for him Gennett also did pretty well at Wisconsin (.817 OPS) so the difference here isn't so incredible, fortunately I'm going to upgrade his stats using Scooter's Brevard numbers since he was Coulter's age when he was with the Manatees.

2014 OPS - .903

MLB SCOOPS projection - 1.015

Player Comp- Mike Piazza, Ivan Rodriguez and Johnny Bench in their prime

Michael Ratteree, Class A Wisconsin - Ratteree is very boom or bust right now, striking out at a pretty high clip (29.3%) even though he's 1.5 years older than the average Class A age. Since he's 23, we'll use Scooter's Nashville comp to figure out just how much he will be mashing when he's wearing a Brewers uni.

2014 OPS - .856 (Class A only)

MLB SCOOPS projection - 1.022

Player Comp - Barry Bonds
