Yesterday, Matt Garza turned in one of the best pitching performances of the season. That helped make up for the offense struggling to bring in many runs. Today, Yovani Gallardo turned in a nice outing, but wasn't good enough to give Milwaukee a win.

Gallardo's first inning wasn't the best: Three singles, a hit batter, and an RBI groundout allowed the Reds to bring in two runs to kick off the game. Over the next six innings, though, Gallardo allowed just five more hits and struck out three batters without giving up another run.

Meanwhile, Mat Latos was fantastic as ever for Cincinnati. The Brewers didn't manage a hit until Aramis Ramirez singled in the fifth inning. In the sixth they scored their first run when Logan Schafer led off with a triple, then came in on a groundout. Then, in the eighth, Milwaukee tied the game when Logan Schafer again scored. This time Schafer doubled and was brought in when Rickie Weeks singled. Latos finished having allowed just four hits and two runs over eight innings pitched.

With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, the Brewers brought in Will Smith to replace Gallardo. Smith didn't help whatever All Star chances he had, walking Brandon Phillips and allowing a two-run homer to Jay Bruce to put the Reds back on top. Jonathan Broxton got three straight groundouts in the ninth to end the game.

The Brewers now get a seven-game home stretch before heading into the All Star break. Up next will be four games against the Phillies. First pitch tomorrow is set for 7:10 CT.
