My pilgrimage to Miller Park this Thu, 8/7 vs. SF

Hey gang, I somehow talked my wife into squeezing in a trip to Miller Park this Wednesday afternoon at the front end of our otherwise unrelated trip to Chicago! Since I've lived on the East Coast my whole life I've only had the chance to go to Miller one other time (this walkoff win in '07 off the bat of Tony Graffanino!), so this is a big deal for me. This time around it also happens to be a big deal for my 9-year-old b/g twins, whom I've indoctrinated into becoming raging Brewers fans! We can't wait.

I've got some questions though, as an out-of-towner. I hope this is an appropriate place to ask 'em. We'd appreciate any thoughts!

- Back in '07 it was just my brother and me, and I put out the feelers on the message boards and got an invite to crash someone's big tailgate, and had an awesome time. This time there's 11 of us (including some of our Chicago pals) so I'm sure there's less of a chance any of you would welcome all of us to join your tailgate... but I'd thought I'd ask anyway! We'll have my 2 9-year-olds, and my friends' 11- and 8-year-olds with us. Or if anyone wants to just join up for a drink and say hi (before or during the game; we'll be in Section 229, Loge OF), drop me a PM!

- Assuming we don't find a party to crash, is there anything we should know about having our own makeshift tailgate? It says the lots open up 3 hours before game time. Would we need to get there that early? If we can get there only 2 hours before, should we not bother? And is it as simple as showing up then, finding a spot, then putting some chairs out? Any other tips (assume we're not going to get fancy)?

- If we end up not joining or starting a proper tailgate, what are our other options for hanging out before the game? I see there's Klement's Sausage Haus. Is that recommended? Will it be packed?

- Any scoops on good kid/family activities to do in the park before or during the game?

Any other miscellaneous advice for our visit would be appreciated too!

Thanks!
