Milone, Duke and Gorzelanny... and LHP starters turned relievers.

So... another site says this about future Brewers star, Tommy Milone... "Milone’s history is as a starter, and he doesn’t necessarily have the traditional numbers you’d like out of a bullpen reliever."

Well... I want to look at just the stats, man.

Let's take a look at former Brewers LHP who were starters that became relievers - Tom Gorzelanny and Zach Duke.

WHIP - as SP - as RP
TG --- 1.474 --- 1.355
ZD --- 1.495 --- 1.273
TM --- 1.329 --- 0.933 (only 15 IP as RP)

SO/9 - as SP - as RP
TG ---- 7.0 --- 8.2
ZD ---- 4.7 --- 8.7
TM ---- 6.3 --- 12.0 (only 15 IP as RP)

SO/BB - as SP - as RP
TG ---- 1.94 --- 2.41
ZD ---- 1.83 --- 1.88
TM ---- 2.80 --- 4.00 (only 15 IP as RP)

Duke was awful as a starter and then REALLY good as a reliever.

Gorzelanny was mediocre as a starter and then had a couple of decent seasons as a RP.

Milone was better than both of them as a starter.

This isn't saying that Milone is going to be great. It simply saying that he shouldn't be ruled out just because he didn't have the traditional numbers that you would want for a reliever.
