Yesterday, the Milwaukee Brewers released their official coaching staffs for each minor league level for 2019. That includes an all-new rookie level affiliate as this year the Brewers will field a second team in the Arizona League. Familiar faces Jim Henderson (Timber Rattlers) and Hiram Burgos (AZL Brewers Blue) have also officially transitioned from the ranks of players to coaches, as both will serve as pitching coaches for the organization this season.
Current Milwaukee Brewers Ryan Braun and Christian Yelich, in addition for former Brewer (and current free agent) Mike Moustakas, have been working all throughout the winter to promote their California Strong campaign to help the victims of the devastating wildfires and violence near their hometowns. The latest effort is a celebrity softball game that will take place later this month, which will feature more than a dozen professional athletes as well as some film and television celebrities. All proceeds raised from the game will go towards benefiting the victims.
If you’re an 18-year-old who wants to work in baseball, here’s a straightforward gameplan.

Craig Counsell announced after today's game three victory that Gio Gonzalez will be the first Milwaukee Brewers pitcher to take the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers in game four. The Brewers had been hesitant to name their initial out getter, but likely decided on who to use after seeing what pitchers threw in today's game. Gonzalez also started the first game of the series, going two innings and giving up a run on a solo homer. We'll see if Milwaukee lets Gonzalez bat this time around or if he just gets to pitch until his spot in the order comes up. I imagine this means we'll get another dose of Brandon Woodruff and/or Corbin Burnes tomorrow.
Remember when Will Smith was suspended for pine tar on his arm? If you look at the replay of NLCS game 1 you can see what looks to be pine tar on the back of Kershaw's cap as he warms up in the bullpen. Shouldn't this warrant a suspension?
Some nice folks are trying to get Cole Hamels to a playoff game after all!
For those Brewers fans who like board games, I just saw a post for this official Brewers Jenga set
With the importance of Game 162 unsure before the series against the Tigers, the Brewers did not name a starter entering the series. Now, with the NL Central on the line, the Brewers have decided to go with Gio Gonzalez. He has been strong since coming to the Brewers at the August waiver deadline, making four starts and recording a 2.66 ERA / 3.80 FIP in 20.1 IP. Overall this season, he has a 4.34 ERA / 4.80 FIP in 166 IP and 31 starts. Gonzalez will likely have a short leash tomorrow, though how long he goes could also depend on how the offense does and if the Brewers can build a lead / stay close or not. First pitch is at 2:10 pm in this crucial game 162 to finish the regular season.
