Agent Casey Close said that Sheets is doing "very well" in his rehab from flexor tendon surgery and plans to be 100 percent by the start of spring training. Close also anticipates no shortage of interest from clubs in the coming weeks.
Jerry Crasnick, ESPN. Apparently the concerns were a false alarm.

No one has heard from Ben Sheets or his agent, according to Brewers GM Doug Melvin
USA Today's Bob Nightengame, courtesy of MLBTR. Maybe it's like Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?, and the team that finds him first gets him for 2010 at the league minimum. Do it, Rockapella!

Committing 10% of your payroll to a non-premium guy who'll throw under 4% of your innings - if he's healthy - is irresponsible.

I think Chuckie Carr's attitude permeated the club. I noticed fans picking up on Chuckie Carr more than they did with any other. As long as Chuckie plays hard, let him have his personality. That's when he plays best. When he's happy-go-lucky we played well. The fans sensed it and enjoyed it.

Left-hander Manny Parra is introducing a cut fastball to his array of pitches, Macha said. It's a work in progress; Pittsburgh's Steve Pearce hit one Friday for a two-run double.
Doesn't he already throw a ton of different pitches? Wasn't there some discussion that he should limit what he throws to three pitches he can truly master?

Yeah, he said something about that, I was told. I played for a little while but never made it too far. I was in Flordia and Seattle's organizations as a fringe player, a guy to fill out a roster. The experience was cool but humbling. I was all speed and glove and hadn't grown enough to hit gap to gap. I was released.
Anthony Witrado responding to a question in today's chat
He must have been really fringe. He doesn't show up on Baseball-Reference or The Baseball Cube. He may have been undrafted and never made it out of their Arizona/Florida complexes.

Nathan (Milwaukee): How did the Brewers do in this year's draft?
Jim Callis: I liked their draft a lot. Their top three picks—Arnett, Davis and Heckathorn—were good talent values for where they went. Max Walla can really hit, they spent to add Brooks Hall's upside in the fourth round and Del Howell was a steal in the 15th round. Ditto for Scooter Gennett in the 16th.
