<title>Well, that sucked again. But put this afternoon's game, and the seventh inning in particular, out of your mind for the evening and focus instead on the return of the Brewers' best pitching prospect to the mound after a 50-game drug suspension. That's right, Jeremy Jeffress is once again suiting up for the Brewers--or, more precisely, the High-A Brevard County Manatees. The game starts at 6:00 Central, and you can follow it here.

  From the JS Blog:

The Brewers are calling it an eight-year deal, including 2008. It's actually a seven-year extension because he was signed for this year for $455,000. We'll see if he got that money reworked as well.

Well, this is pretty hilarious. As the entire Internet has already pointed out, not only is Felix Pie, despite his offensive struggles, hitting better than Jim Edmonds, he's a much superior fielder. It's hard to think of a better situation to let Pie grow as a hitter than on this Cubs team, which is getting enough offense out of the 1-7 spots to support a complete offensive cipher who plays excellent D, if that's all Pie turns out to be. Just idiotic.

Manager Tony La Russa plans to rest first baseman Albert Pujols tonight, potentially giving Pujols his first day off this season. He didn't start an earlier game but appeared as a pinch-hitter.

"It's what I've been thinking all along. It's a good way to do it," said La Russa, who in spring training forecast two or three days off a month for the former MVP.

A midgame appearance would imperil Pujols' season-long run of reaching base in 39 consecutive games.
