Okay, this slipping below .500 thing is getting old -- I say we're almost there, and we should stay there.

Let's hope the Brewers continue to destroy Vincente Padilla's career numbers as Padilla (0-4, 10.57) starts for the Phillies, while Gary Glover, (2-1, 5.02) does his thing for the Crew.

Prediction
Brewers win 8-3

Good call!
Take away those two Lieberthal home runs, and you're right on.

Not that it makes any sense to just arbitrarily ignore Lieb's two dingers, but then again, there's no way anybody could've reasonably predicted that.

patience
if we keep it up, we will hit .500 and beyond soon enough, our pythagorean W/L puts up much higher than we are

Last year
What was the pythagorean w/l at this time last year?

ufoboy, question
who's the other one?

is he posting here?

Classic
As they showed all the people with their O's on TV, my wife asked, "Why do they like him so much?"  Lyle showed her on that first pitch.

To be fair to her, she doesn't really follow the Brewers, and didn't know how good Overbay is :)

The Milwaukee Squanders
The other day, someone posted an article by Peter Gammons, which contained his rant on the sorry state of baseball today, when teams have such pathetic scoring rates with bases loaded and 1 out or less.  The Brewers were somewhere near the bottom, and we've seen it a lot lately.  I  can't believe they just had the bases loaded and 0 out, and failed to score a single run.  Those are the sorts of wasted oppotunities that this team can't afford.

Ya know....
Im very close to saying something that will get me banned from this site by Jeff.  Im biting my tounge, but someday I'm just gonna come out and say it....
Does anyone else find ESPN unbearable to watch these days?

I won't ban you from the site...
I'll just try to convince of the error of your ways :)

Bases loaded
At least the Phillies are just as pathetic.  They were facing Julio (I'm not Johan) Santana with bases loaded and nobody out and got zippo as well.  Nice job by Julio.

Brady comes through!
Nobody I'd rather see at the plate with the bases loaded than Clark...

J.J., 2 for 3 so far...
that Butch Wynegar quote from a few days ago about turning the corner is looking mighty prescient these last few days

Pitching
You just gotta love this relief pitching.  It is absolutely superb for the price

when Santana came in...
...I thought to myself, "Ned must really love his bullpen--between Phelps and Santana, he can't resist working even the worst of the guys out there" ... then I realized, I might not use the pen the same way, but I love the pen too!

And you're right, you can't beat the price.  Just trade Bottalico and the whole crew'll be making the minimum!

Robinson Tejeda makes his MLB debut...
...which means he's now the third person who's pitched for the Phillies today who I didn't even realize had a job in major league baseball.

He's gonna do it
Overbay is going to prove, right now, why this team needs him

Correction: he is going to AGAIN prove why this team needs him :)

Unless Overbay is the only one
who can pitch a scoreless 9th, the team doesn't exactly need him right now.

But another HR would sure be fun!

Disregard
just carry my last post over to his next AB

Never mind.
I guess Derrick's been pitching a lot lately.

Does this mean Ned is actually not wasting his closer in a low-leverage "save situation"?

That would be so freaking awesome.

with that walk from Helms
TEN different Brewers, including the eight starting position players, have reached base.  That's just awesome.

by Jeff Sackmann on May 10, 2005 10:25 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Whaaa?
Wes Helms' only position is on the bench.  ... but good for him getting a walk, it's got to be hard seeing so little action and still having an iota of patience at the plate.

Sloppy game, but I'll take it.
