Okay, this slipping below .500 thing is getting old -- I say we're almost there, and we should stay there.

Let's hope the Brewers continue to destroy Vincente Padilla's career numbers as Padilla (0-4, 10.57) starts for the Phillies, while Gary Glover, (2-1, 5.02) does his thing for the Crew.

Take away those two Lieberthal home runs, and you're right on.

Not that it makes any sense to just arbitrarily ignore Lieb's two dingers, but then again, there's no way anybody could've reasonably predicted that.

The other day, someone posted an article by Peter Gammons, which contained his rant on the sorry state of baseball today, when teams have such pathetic scoring rates with bases loaded and 1 out or less. The Brewers were somewhere near the bottom, and we've seen it a lot lately. I can't believe they just had the bases loaded and 0 out, and failed to score a single run. Those are the sorts of wasted oppotunities that this team can't afford.

At least the Phillies are just as pathetic. They were facing Julio (I'm not Johan) Santana with bases loaded and nobody out and got zippo as well. Nice job by Julio.

...I thought to myself, "Ned must really love his bullpen--between Phelps and Santana, he can't resist working even the worst of the guys out there" ... then I realized, I might not use the pen the same way, but I love the pen too!

And you're right, you can't beat the price. Just trade Bottalico and the whole crew'll be making the minimum!

Wes Helms' only position is on the bench. ... but good for him getting a walk, it's got to be hard seeing so little action and still having an iota of patience at the plate.
