Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Brewers Hire Announcer!!!

According to the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America Website, It's Brian Anderson!

Frankly, I'm not sure what to think.  I don't know much about the guy--except that his favorite food is sugar.  Yes, sugar!  Does he pour it down his throat in the morning--how does that work?  (There's a link on the golf's channel's website but the tag wouldn't work, so you'll have to find that one yourselves :)

Well let the discussion begin.  Anyone ever hear him before?  Impressions?  Who would your dream choice have been?  Begin!

Update [2007-1-4 15:38:25 by battlekow]: In addition to loving sugar, he also enjoys "Raising Arizona", which has to be a good sign. I'm already walking more comfortable.

I just hope he doesn't fall into line with Bill Schroeder by using "no doubt about it" every 30 seconds.

yeah...
I just hope anderson doesn't try to do too much with the gig and just goes with it.

we'll see
i was hoping for matt lepay, even though i knew there was no chance. hope this guy is good.

Hope he's studying
I want to hear all about Capuano's quality starts, beginnning with game 1.  If Daron Sutton taught me nothing else, it's that a 4.50 ERA is the mark of a solid pitcher.

Brewers Site...
Adam Mccalvy credited Al's Ramblings with the story--haha--i wish i had gotten the credit.  Truth is I've been following a broadcasting blog called Call of the Game (don't go there now, there's a virus) and found the link there from a person named Goldy...However if you look at the times of posts, I posted the story before Al...I just don't get no respect :)

interesting
I'd have liked a more proven and polished commodity like Ted Robinson, but we'll have to see what this guy has to offer.  I hope he takes the game seriously, points out things the savvy fan doesn't already notice, and has a great delivery.  The last of these is the key, because frankly I never thought much of Vasgersian or Sutton's delivery.  Both seem better suited to football with their love of the shouting.

Meh
I still say, just stick a cameraman out there and steal the Uecker/Powell feed.  Jim Powell is pretty awesome.

agreed
powell is sweet.  I hope that guy sticks around and perhaps takes over full time when/if Uecker leaves.

If?
Not be cynical, but...

but...
he reminds of joe paterno as where I could see him pass away calling his last game.  I just don't see a time in the near future where Uecker says I gotta go.  **Obviously, this is all speculation on my part

and a reply to myself
I think I was the one being cynical first with the IF part :)

fake outs...
I love Uecker.  He will always be the voice of the Brewers to me; but I gotta say, in the past few seasons, he has faked me out quite a bit.  Have you guys experienced the same thing?  The fake out "Get up, get out of here and... caught at the wall."

by engbjm06 on Jan 7, 2007 10:49 AM CST reply actions

no, no, nooo,...
Yes I have!  I'm glad someone else pointed this out as he totally does do things like that.  BUT, think about it, he's on radio.  Unless you're watching it on TV too you don't see the action.  Plus, he may not really know if it's gonna leave the park ect.  This could be he's growing older, too many free millers, or he's trying to do too much with the call :)

by Michael M on Jan 7, 2007 11:36 AM CST up reply actions

That's a good point
He needs to just take the call the other way.

I like Uecker
I really do, but he's past his prime. He'd be a great color guy (just think of the times when he & Powell interact--they're great), but he's pretty bad at describing game action. Whole at-bats will be sacrificed so that he can tell a well-worn story. He needs someone (Powell!) to rein him in and be his foil.

announcers
the reason I bought XM radio. I wished you could get road games.

Yes uecker is a better color guy. but I would like more powell/uecker banter back and forth. I don't get much of that.

Still can't beat Pat Hughes for play by play.

we get love from adam on brewers web site:
Before we dip into the mailbag, I want to start the new year with a nod to the bloggers at "Brew Crew Ball," who should have received the credit for digging up news of the Brewers' new TV play-by-play man. In my original story Thursday, I credited another blog, "Al's Ramblings," but an e-mailer correctly pointed out that Brew Crew Ball had it first, by 11 minutes. Nice find, guys.

Yay for us! :)

Awesome
That's great. Thanks for scooping everybody, Michael.

by Jeff Sackmann on Jan 8, 2007 3:06 PM CST up reply actions

no problem
If I can get everybody here famous--I'm all for it :)  As a begining writer my-self I find scoops interesting.  Problem is, I mainly find them in happenstance--as with the broadcaster--I had been reading a broadcast blog for 2 weeks running waiting for any news, sort of like a stakeout.

It's good for this blog, al's ect..that Adam mentioned them.  We may now be getting fans who would have never thought of looking or knowing of Brewers blogs.  Heck, I didn't think about looking until the middle of the season last year.  Anyways, I look forward to it.
