Five Fun Facts: Brady Clark Edition

Five Fun(ish) Facts About Brady Clark:

1. Despite hitting only four home runs last year, Clark was one of the five Brewers to homer in their record-setting 4th inning against the Reds on April 22nd last year. Fortuitous timing for a guy who slugged .335 on the year and didn't homer again until June.

2. Speaking of Brady's dazzling wattage, his ISO (SLG-AVG) last year was .072; Tony Gwynn, the epitome of punchlessness, posted a mark of .096 in AAA. In June, Brady registered 30 hits in 83 at-bats, good for a .361 average; unfortunately, only two of the hits were of the extra-base variety, and those only doubles, leaving his slugging percentage at only .386 and his ISO at a truly heroic .025.

3. Brady attended Sunset High in Portland, OR (home of Powell's!). Other Sunset High grads include Dandy Warhols frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor (nee Taylor) and smooth jazz musician Chris Botti. Brady is also a University of San Diego grad; fellow Toreros include Theo Epstein (law school), late Army women's basketball coach Maggie Dixon and the terrifying Bill Bavasi (don't forget to check out some bonus Lookout Landing hilarity).

4. Brady was part of the mega Shawn Estes-for-Pedro Feliciano deal executed by the Mets and Reds in September 2002. He was claimed on waivers by the Brewers four months later. Interestingly enough, if you google "Brady Clark" and "Shawn Estes" together, you get this.

5. "Brady Clark" is an anagram for "Crab Darkly"--rather Dickian and sinister. Include his middle name and "Brady William Clark" yields "A Wily Crab Dram Kill," perhaps the title of a Warren Harding murder mystery.

6. Bonus fact! Brady is one of prospect guru John Sickels' favorite players.

Nice
Very well done.  Already the Royals Review is reeling.

Bonus Fact #7
In 2004 Brady was penciled in the starting batting order in every position except the 8th or 9th slots at least once.

Yes, he was even the clean up hitter once (8/25/04 when the Brewers 2-5 hitters that day were Durrington, Counsell, Clark and Magruder, UGH!)

Damn
Nice work; instead of Murderer's Row, that's like Litterbug's Row. I think your fact was better than at least three of mine, though I'm pretty fond of the anagram one.

i remember that day!
It's amazing enough that Brady appeared anywhere between 3 and 5, let alone in all three of those spots.

Lookout Landing
Those links were hilarious.  Misery can make a man a comedian.

Oops
I linked to that one in the main article. Meant to link to this one.

Great phrase
I think "Bavasi stain" should enter the common vernacular. If not universally, then at least here on BCB.
