Indians Home Opener in Milwaukee

Score one for the stadium with a roof.

Star-divide

Anyone else think it might be cool to go watch a game with a neutral crowd, and see Vlad throw the ball around between innings?

Early indications are that tickets will not be discounted, though.

Update [2007-4-9 14:37:50 by Marty McSuperFly]: Tickets for the series go on sale at 2:00PM today. The ticket office phone number is 414-902-4000.

Update [2007-4-9 14:39:39 by Marty McSuperFly]: And parking will be $8

Update [2007-4-9 15:44:41 by Marty McSuperFly]: RESERVED SEATING. I just got my seats for tomorrow night. Diamond Box, Section 121. If you want the best seats, I guess you need to call now.

Update [2007-4-9 15:53:7 by Marty McSuperFly]: Ahem. That would be Field Diamond Box, 7 rows behind the Angels dugout. I'll be taunting some struck-out batters :)

Wacky
really cool.  That's even more exciting than that Butler University vs. Wisconsin-Milwaukee doubleheader!

Seriously
I think I'll go on Thursday.  This is awesome (sucks for Cleveland though).

Non-domed Midwest stadiums
Seriously, Miller Park could be the bad-weather fall back plan for all these open-air stadiums in the Midwest (including the Twins impending ballpark).  I think it's great (for us Milwaukeeans, that is).

by nmc on Apr 9, 2007 12:48 PM CDT reply actions

I'd go if I was still there...
Heck, I'd go if I could afford a plane ticket to Milwaukee.  $10 tickets for field level?  For Indians-Angels?  Take the f*&^ing day off already!!

All circuits busy
Sounds there's like a lot of interest in these games.  Al thinks $10 tickets and $8 parking are too expensive, but everyone I've talked to is jumping at the opportunity to see a game from the lower decks that cheaply.  It will be interesting to see how many people end up turning out for the series.

I've called twice to order tickets, and got busy signals, and "All circuits busy" messages.

by Marty McSuperFly on Apr 9, 2007 2:13 PM CDT reply actions

If you think $18 is too much for lower deck...
especially since if you carpool, that gets down to $14 or less ...you're really out of touch.  What, just because it's at the last minute means they should be giving it away?

I'd be jumping at the bit, too.

Prices
good thing they weren't any lower. Seems like the Brewers knew exactly what they were doing!
"I don't know what we would have done if even more people would have showed up," one Brewers official said. "We might have been in trouble."

Bargain
Never underestimate the lengths people will go to for a bargain.  Makes me think of those people that sit in line for 3 hours for $1/gallon gas specials.

After a while they were either allowing people to drift into the bleachers, or they actually starting selling the seats out there (it sure looked full on the field and loge levels when people started filling in over there).  It's hard to say whether the turnout will be as good with a winter storm going on, but hopefully they do as well as they did last night.  It can't be easy to pull together all the loose ends in a day.

Will Call
How were the lines?  BTF has some accounts and they weren't favorable.

My tix are at will call Thursday and I don't want to wait in line forever.

by nmc on Apr 11, 2007 10:54 AM CDT up reply actions

Long
I had an inkling that the lines would be long, so I picked up my tickets on Monday night.

When we arrived last night around 5:35, there were lines 8-9 deep at all the ticket windows (based on a quick glance....I didn't see if the line continued anywhere).  Will Call looked as long as the others.

And now the number forwards to tickets.com

by Marty McSuperFly on Apr 9, 2007 2:23 PM CDT reply actions

On hold
13 minutes on hold now, which is pretty dumb of me, since the articles say the tickets will be general admission.  Still, there must be some heavy early demand.

by Marty McSuperFly on Apr 9, 2007 2:35 PM CDT reply actions

ga
i don't think they'll do general admission... stay on hold.

Baseball fan
I'm a baseball fan.  The opportunity to see two playoff-caliber teams trot their higher-level pitchers out there for 10 bucks is a no-brainer for me.

obviously
i've never sat that close. do the rows behind the dugout start at 1 or some higher number to match up... i'd assume they start at like 7 or something...

I don't remember
I sat 5 or 6 rows behind the Brewers dugout once last year, but I don't remember what the row number was.  I was assuming I'd be roughly that far back, but it wouldn't account for those couple rows next to the dugout.  Wow, that will be close!

lots of upset people
read here and here.

this is just another classic example about the "blame bud first" people. the indians contacted the baseball about moving it to milwaukee, but people automatically assume it was moved there because selig once owned the brewers, convienently forgetting that selig has no financial stake in the team anymore.

by Griswald on Apr 9, 2007 3:52 PM CDT reply actions

Hahaha
What a bunch of maroons.  I'd comment myself, if so many hadn't already put the smack down.

For the record, I frequently have unkind things to say about Bud Selig.  However, his insistence on a retractable roof in Milwaukee is unquestionably the best thing he did for the Brewers after moving them to Milwaukee.

Well, actually, the best thing he ever did was sell the team and get his daughter out of here, but you know what I mean :)

And now Wednesday
Taking my 3 year old boy on Wednesday. Section 124, 5th row.  He's cute enough that the ball girl should be inspired to toss him one of the foul balls she rounds up :)

by Marty McSuperFly on Apr 9, 2007 4:26 PM CDT reply actions

Gonna
walk up tomorrow to catch these 2 great teams. What a pitching match-up. Just hope CC doesn't pull a neck muscle eating. Too short notice for a lot of my peeps so it might just be me. Hope a can snake a lone ticket close(r) to the field. Should be great.

attendance
i think it will be well over the 5,000 many are predicting. i think their "outside" perspective doesn't allow them to see how many baseball fans there are in the area.
