Graffanino Requires a Second Surgery

From the Journal Sentinel:

Bad news for Graffanino: Any faint chance infielder Tony Graffanino had of returning to the Brewers next season went by the boards Monday when a specialist was unable to repair his injured right knee with one procedure.

Graffanino will need another operation in three months to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament, which will take six months to heal. That time frame takes him into the 2008 season, making it highly unlikely any team will sign the 35-year-old infielder this winter as a free agent.

No more Counsellino!  Maybe we can make a new name for Counsell and Dillon.  Dillll?

This is a sucky way to go out for Graffy, though.

Too bad
I wasn't too high on Graffy before the season.  I thought there could be better options (I wanted Cirillo back, basically).  He pleasantly surprised me though.  Too bad.  I ended up liking him.  Not as much as Cirillo though.  Graffy couldn't pitch. :)

Jig Counlon?
At least when they hit like middle infielders from the 1910's they'll have a name to match.

Old-fashioneds?
A little late in the night to still be quaffing brandy old-fashioneds, don't you think Brooks?  You know those little red cherries are super-carcinogenic and will really put a dent in your plans to return to the mound.

I am out west
so I am 3-2 hours behind most. Making it 11:30 for my cocktails. Problem is that was my first.
Yea, the cherries, no more red dye #2or5 or whatever, but still kind of a scary process of making them. Problem is, you need them for an old-fashioned. Cant find a substitute. I already skip the sugar, since that was the way they were originally made and that didnt include using soda-sprite, 7up-so for those who dont or didnt ever live in Wisc. here is the cocktail of choice- contemporary Wisc. version-
1 Old-fashioned cocktail glass- yes that is what they are called.
fill with desired amount of ice- little less than full.
1/3rd brandy- just over 2 shots.
squeeze a orange slice in- leave in as garnish if desired.
1 maraschino cherry, 1 teaspoon of cherry juice
couple shakes of bitters- I like that part, add an extra shake in mine.
olives or brussel sprouts as garnish
top off with sprite/7up
voila

Any other versions?

ps- I am 3 days away from total fitness, I can take the mound.

ive had them
with cinnamon. Gives them a little extra zip with the cherry and its juice.

I used to spend a lot of time on Pinkney
Great looking place.  Makes me want to drive there now and have one (or all) of those lazy Susan appetizer trays.  And of course an old-fashioned.  Gotta love those supper clubs.
