Game Thread #142: Milwaukee (72-69) at Cincinnati (64-78)

'Just then, a Miners player got tagged out at second base.  The player pointed at George.  "That monkey!" he said.  "He distracted me with his funny signs."

Oops! The coach had been giving directions to the base runner.  George's hand signals had taken his mind off the play.  Poor George!  He had only been trying to be part of the team.  Instead the Miners had lost a chance to score.'

- Margaret & H.A. Rey, Curious George at the Baseball Game

Star-divide

It's Ben Sheets against Phil Dumatrait, and his player bio says he's a lefty.  That's good news for you Billy Hall and Corey Hart fans out there, and for that guy over in the corner with a Mench t-shirt.

I'm 6-1 in game threads on the season, all via RHP.  I'm getting the start today because I've had the hot hand, and I'm in the flow of the season.  And, honestly, I'm looking for a relatively easy time of it with Sheets on the mound.

Nice
love the fact that we are tied for first in September and still comparing our manager to a cartoon monkey.
Marty you are getting the start against a lefty because you are a veteran and we all have a hunch about you today.

No pressure today
Sure, they are playing for first place, but it's not like anyone in Wisconsin will be watching the Brewers. :)

I know that with the Brewer game AND Sunday Ticket, there won't be any time for walking to the computer this after.

Anybody see Tyler Donavon's dive yesterday?
I swear it looked like he dove 10 yards and horizontal the entire dive.

Back to the brewers, Can we please end the end of the weekend jinx, where the Sp pitches well, the brewers hit well, then some idiot reliever blows the game? I call it the end of the weekend jinx because of the labor day game.  I thought it was just the sunday jinx but last weekend ruined that theory.

One wonders why the Brewer TV plan would blackout games in September, yet broadcast the one opposite the first Packer game.

Home Run Records
The NL record for most home runs in a game is 9 (AL 10).

Also, the record for most home rume runs in a game by infielders is 6 (milwaukee '54 and Montreal '78). We already have 5 through 5. That would tie the AL record.

by trl1020 on Sep 9, 2007 1:30 PM CDT reply actions

  1. Brew won two of three on the road
  2. Cubs still suck, brewers regain 1st
  3. Wisconsin had a great comeback
  4. Packers won despite having an awful offensive showing, but wow its nice to have a good D again.
  5. And as of right now, the bears are losing.
  6. Most importantly, my fantasy football team is winning, despite LT not really helping.
