Pujols to have Tommy John surgery?

This quotation is from Kevin Wheeler, reporter for the Cardinals' weekly radio program on KMOX, as quoted by the MLB Rumors blog:

"He was already voicing concern about his right elbow, which probably needs Tommy John surgery, and if that elbow (or the back or the hammies) give him significant trouble...he might not be able to battle through the pain again."
In years past, this would have been cause for some serious schadenfreude, but with the Cardinals unlikely to challenge for the NL Central title this year (Chris Carpenter isn't due back from his TJ surgery until after the All-Star Break), an extended Pujols absence would help the Cubs just as much as it would help the Brewers.

Seriously, has anyone checked out the Cards' prospective rotation?

1. Adam Wainwright
2. Braden Looper
3. Joel Pineiro
4. Matt Clement
5. Anthony Reyes/Todd Wellemeyer/Brad Thompson

Wow. That looks like a vintage early-2000s Brewers rotation. Mark Mulder is due back in May or June, but I doubt he'll help much.

Yuck
Maybe they'll come calling in March for either Capuano or Vargas.  Not that they have anyone in their farm system that I would want...besides Rasmus, of course.

I feel
sorry for Cardinal fans.  I wish this was the fate of the Cubs, as such that Cubs fans are generally harassing towards me and Cards fans are generally more interested in talking about baseball.

THANKS! (3 Things)
  1. Do the Cards have anything worth getting if 'Stache were do dare to try to trade within the division?
  2. Now we can't get Yosted by that dumbass Yost, because he can't intentionally hit Pujols in the most crucial part of the game... Though, he'll try other ways to f___ us!  My man Ted won't let it happen!
  3. THANKS FOR THE INFO. I'll slide Pujols down my fantasy ratings!

Stache
tried to get Rolen. I think its a pretty tricky thing to trade within the division. The Astros are a little thin on pitching as well.

Rotation
Sure, their rotation looks bad, but they're not really expecting to contend anyway, right? It's not worth spending a bunch of money on whatever free agents were there to make sure they finish fourth. It's definitely not worth sending any real prospects they have on the way to get another pitcher. I get the feeling that if they had splurged on a Silva type people would say it was a dumb move that put off their necessary rebuilding.

Oh it's definitely not worth it
But that doesn't change the abject suckitude of their current rotation.
He's extremely quick and good.

He's gonna try and play the rest of his career with a bad elbow and what boggles my mind, he's had it since '03.

He's had bad hammies and bad feet as well. He's pretty young too. Maybe it would make sense to trade him. He definitely sells a lot of tickets though.

"He's pretty young too"
Well, maybe. He's probably as old as he says he is, but you never know for sure.
