Friday's Frosty Mug

And to celebrate today being a "Good" day, I've added a whole bunch more daily reads. Here's the latest from the 177-ouncer:

Batter's Box Interactive has the longest Brewer preview you'll read this spring. Seriously, refill your coffee before you open in. Maybe grab something to eat, too.

Dugout Central takes a look at the Brewers ZiPS projections...and still seems to think the team can get by with a 4-man rotation in April. Weren't we over that about 3 weeks ago?

I had forgotten Randy Choate was in camp. Apparently a broken finger will keep him on the DL or in AAA a little longer.

The day in pictures:

Bill Hall has forgotten what that thing on his hand is for.
Manny Parra's rough outing was bound to happen eventually.
That guy Jamie knows went 3 innings?

Beyond the Box Score notes that Callix Crabbe could stick with the Padres. Obviously, another middle infielder is always welcome, but with Nunez and Escobar likely to start the season in AAA, where would he have gotten playing time?

Alphabetical injury reports in one line or less:

Giants 2B Ray Durham was scratched from yesterday's game with tightness in his hamstring.
Nomar Garciaparra's wrist is better worse than expected and he'll be out past Opening Day.
Rays IF Akinori Iwamura left yesterday's game in the third inning with tightness in his back.
Rockies 2B Jayson Nix was scratched from yesterday's game with stiffness in his lower back.
White Sox 2B Danny Richar is going on the DL with a stress fracture in his ribs.
B.J. Upton took a pitch off his elbow yesterday and left the game, but isn't expected to miss much time.
Kerry Wood is going to pitch back-to-back games for the first time on Sunday and Monday.

I'm running out of time here, so the non-Brewer links will have to be quick:

The Reds have decided the future is later and sent Jay Bruce back to AAA.

Dugout Central has a list of things they think will never happen in baseball again. Many of them will happen.

Joe Posnanski retells his three biggest screw-ups in his life in sports. If he can do things like this and still hold a job, maybe there's hope for a long career for the rest of us after all.

That's all for today. Drink up.

Crabbe Man!
I know, I know, he was blocked and all, but wouldn't you rather have the Crabbe man in AAA than Nunez?

Is Jayson Nix related to Laynce Nix?  Same last name, same unnecessary Y in his first name.

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Nix family
They're brothers.

I wonder how good Crabbe is defensively at short and third - he never really played anywhere else in the infield but second base in the Brewers system before trying the outfield last season.

I bet
The Crab Man could do it

in a pinch.
