How about a Timber Rattlers game today?

+

While you're waiting for tonight's Brewers-Twins game and trying to get the memory of the last two games out of your head, click the link above to listen to Wily Peralta and the Timber Rattlers taking on Beloit. First pitch is at 2:05. UPDATE: Beloit defeated the Rattlers 4-0. Wily Peralta struck out ten and allowed just three hits in six innings, but the bullpen and bats let him down.

Lots of activity on the farm tonight

In AAA: The Nashville Sounds host Reno tonight at 7. Nick Green takes the mound for the Sounds against Cesar Valdez. You can listen live here at 6:35. In AA: The Huntsville Stars will try to snap a two game losing streak against the Chattanooga Lookouts at 7. The Stars are sending Mark Holliman to the mound (I think), and you can hear it live here. In High-A: Can Evan Anundsen pitch his second no-hitter of 2009? Find out for yourself when Brevard County travels to Lakeland tonight at 6. Or don't, since I can't find a radio feed of the game. If you know how to follow this game, leave a note in the comments and I'll update the post. In Low A: After Game 2 of their doubleheader was rained out last night, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Cedar Rapids Kernels are playing two tonight in Cedar Rapids. Wily Peralta and Trey Watten are scheduled to pitch for the Rattlers, and you can listen live here starting at 5:30 (h/t to Rattler Radio, who compiled a lot of this info.)

Wily Peralta promoted to West Virginia

Next revision of the prospect list, this guy is gonna be on it. Peralta was signed along with the more-hyped Rolando Pascual in 2005, but pitched unimpressively as a 17-year-old in the Arizona League in 2006 before missing all of 2007 with Tommy John surgery. This year he's pitched well for Helena while serving mostly as their closer, posting a 36/8 K/BB in 29.3 innings; however, for 19-year-old kids in the low minors, scouting reports are just as important as numbers, and as Erik Miller and Nick Tyson have reported, Peralta has some serious stuff, namely a mid-90s fastball and a hard, late-breaking mid-80s slider. I've been talking to Mike Newman, who runs the excellent Baseball Handyman, about Peralta, and I think Mike willl have a piece up on him tomorrow. Peralta is one to watch for sure.
