A Day In The Life Of A Cubs Scout
As some may know I do some news writing/anchoring for a SD radio station...I'm always on the lookout for different sources that might offer interesting stories. I have seen this new site -- examiner.com -- that has local branches nationwide.
On the Chicago site...I found this....
Padres desperate; Peavy Pissed?
Many reasons why this deal is NOT dead. Again, patience wins this one in the long run, and the Cubs give up fewer pieces.
Yet another article.."Pads say Cubs still interested in you-know-who...."
That -- even after the signing of Dempster. I can taste Al's dinner now....

Tribune Company kicks the tires of the San Diego Union-Tribune
If indeed any deals can be made now -- this could be a interesting one for Tribco. With the cash they've sunk into their new Fox affiliate here, this could be they same type of synergy that you see between WGN-TV and the Tribune.
It's the continued re-branding of WGN America...
Premiere Radio Networks’ "The Bob & Tom Show" becomes the latest radio show to extend its brand to TV. Beginning Nov. 3, Tribune’s WGN America cable channel will air a daily, one-hour, late night best-of version of that day’s syndicated radio morning show. It’s the first original programming created by the recently rebranded cable channel, which reaches 72 million homes and enjoys a massive footprint in the Midwest, where Indianapolis-based Bob & Tom’s enjoy their greatest ratings success.
This is from the trade publication "Radio & Records."
"Ryan The Soothsayer" -- NYT
So, when did the New York Times turn into the Chicago Tribune? There seem to have been a run of stories lately on the fortunes of the Cubs in the Paper Of Record.
Maybe it's because we're headed toward the Event of the Century? Let us hope so. Anyway, here's a look at the antics of Ryan Dempster. Or, as writer Alan Schwarz says:
"Ryan Dempster’s conversion from capable closer to dominant starter, is one of the principal reasons for Waveland Avenue’s awakening hope."
