The Brewers added Hernan Iribarren, Tony Gywnn, Jr., Manny Parra and Carlos Villanueva to their 40 man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft.
The Brewers also signed Rick Helling to a 1 year deal for $850,000. Helling proved he could stay healthy playing almost a full season in Nashville, was rewarded with a callup, and was revitalized with a new cutter.
Melvin also snagged Zach Sorensen off of waivers. Sorensen can play all over the infield and centerfield as well. If Billy Hall is offered and wins the everyday 3b job, Sorensen could very likely become the super sub that Billy Hall was. He was a second round draft pick by the Cleveland Indians in 1998 and was with the Angels organization last year.
Brewerfan.net speculates that Cirillo will soon be signed to fill out the 40 man roster.
