White Sox 17, Brewers 9

Heck of a lot of drama for March 23!

Damaso Marte hit Carlos Lee in the hip, and then--according to Carlos, anyway--stared him down.  Lee was restrained from charging the mound and was removed for a pinch runner.

Marte claims it was accidental, but Carlos claims he saw it coming.  Clearly there's no love lost between our new left fielder and his former teammates.  I know these guys are fiercely competitive, or they wouldn't be where they are today, but in spring training, this is ridiculous.  As the White Sox won't play Milwaukee during the season, I suppose they had to get it out of their system now.

Other news: Victor Santos was pounded.  Good thing he's not competing for a spot in the rotation, or his chances wouldn't look too good right now.

Prince Fielder kept right on mashing.  I find it hard to imagine a scenario, short of a major injury to Overbay, in which Prince sees much action in Milwaukee this year, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him put up ridiculous numbers in AAA.

Neither Jorge de la Rosa nor Justin Lehr looked that good today; de la Rosa gave up 2 runs on 5 hits in 2 2/3, and Lehr gave up 2 hits and 2 unearned runs in an inning.  Both will likely be in the bullpen on Opening Day, but it may take a while before this collection of middle relievers sorts itself into a coherent relief corps.

Tomorrow: the Mariners visit Maryvale in the afternoon.  Something makes me doubt that any Brewers pitcher will plunk Richie Sexson.
