$135M, 8 years for Alfonso Soriano?

Looks like the Cubbies are zeroing in on the most expensive target of the offseason.  Could make for an impressive Cubs offense for the next couple of years: Aramis Ramirez, Derrek Lee, and Soriano in the middle of the order.

As I just said over here, this could be great for the long-term, if not for right now.  The Cubbies will be tied down to a couple of huge contracts--A-Ram and Sori--for quite a while, which will limit their ability to solve other problems, like filling out a starting rotation.  There is absolutely no way this will be a good deal in 2014, and it probably won't be all that great in 2010.  I'm skeptical about 2007, for that matter.
