Anybody miss the days in which Bob Uecker would do an Aussie accent because he liked Trent Durrington so much?
Me too.
The Brewers have announced that they signed Chris Oxspring, a right-handed pitcher, to a minor league contract with a NRI to spring training. Here are his career minor league stats; he had a couple of solid Triple-A campaigns in 2004 and 2005. He spent '06 in Japan, and didn't do all that well. Let's blame it on the sushi. He appears to have started for almost his entire career, but he's also the sort of guy who becomes a middle reliever at this point in his career.
Did I mention he's from Australia?
Thanks to Joe Hamrahi (Baseball Digest Daily) for passing this tidbit along.
