Some nice tidbits in this interview with our favorite GM:

We always said we weren't going to make a deal unless we get some pitching back. We wanted pitchers that would help us at the upper levels. In football, you'd look at it as getting two number ones and a number four in draft picks and two have a chance to be on our club and another one in the near future so we weren't going to make a deal unless we were totally confident (first baseman) Prince (Fielder) could step in plus we were getting pitching back.
